HFC History

1930

Two brothers Ben and Harry Teitelbaum from Brooklyn NY started by buying “short ends” from the NY film laboratories and hired the blind to rejoin the film in dark rooms to make up film rolls to be sold to broadcasting news stations.

1938

Incorporated Editing Film Equipment dba Hollywood Film Co after the design and development of the Power Rewind. Which became a standard of the motion picture film industry. This was the first piece of equipment of over 3200 different items Hollywood Film Co engineers designed and developed for the film industry.

1967

Hollywood Film Co introduced FUJIFILM to the US market. HFC was very instrumental in making Fuji a household name.

1968

Hollywood Film Co receives its first Academy Award for the design and development of High-Speed Optical Reduction Film Printer.

1970

Hollywood Film Co receives an Academy Award for the design and development of the Hazeltine Color Film Analyzer.

 1971

Hollywood Film Co receives an Academy Award for the design and development of the Motion Picture Film Proof Printer

1974

Hollywood Film Co. established Editing Film Center. A secured temperature - controlled facility to properly store media assets.

1975

Hollywood Film Co receives an Academy Award for the design and development of the Computerized Tape Reader for programming color exposure for high speed film printing machines.

1976

Hollywood Film Co designed and developed a film rejuvenation machine and created a proprietary chemistry of chemical to remove scratches on the base side of motion picture film. This process launched HFC Film Services. A service that changed the international distribution methods for the major studios saving the studios millions of dollars on each international release.

1979

Hollywood Film Co becomes the only manufacturer in the world of the ICC shipping case for the 35mm and 70mm shipping case.

1980

Hollywood Film Co receives an Academy Award for the design and development of the Immersion Contact Color Film Printer.

1989

Hollywood Film Co receives an Academy Award for the design and development of the  High-Speed Micro Processing Technologies, to control print exposure, A&B printing, picture fades and Special Effects.

1990

Hollywood Film Co in collaboration with FUJIFILM receive an Academy Award for the design and development of a high-speed negative film.

1991

Vincent J Carabello is named president of Hollywood Film Co.

1994

VAC Holdings (Vincent and Antonia Carabello) acquired 100% stock ownership of Hollywood Film Co.

1997

Hollywood Film Co concludes its contract with FUJIFILM and signs a life-long North American distribution agreement with AGFA motion picture film products.  Hollywood Film Co was successful with increasing AGFA North American market share from 13% to 21% during the life of film.

2007

Hollywood Film Co is awarded its 8th academy award for technical achievement for the design and development of the Precision Film Densitometer – reading picture and sound densities. This device assured the film labs their process was removing the maximum amount of silver from the film increasing the labs profitability.

2013

Vincent J Carabello III retains 100% ownership of Hollywood Film Co and begins the reinvention of the business after the demise of film due to technology.

2019

HFC Media Services is launched. Focusing solely on Asset Media Management. A profit center of Hollywood Film Co since 1974.
